PHIL HELYAR

Former rider and MXRaceTime Owner

Phil has had a lifetime in Motocross, and comes from a Motocross family, his dad Des Helyar rode from the late 50s to the 70's and whilst doing that setup his own motorcycle shop.

Phil started in 1988 racing schoolboy's events at  Portsmouth Schoolboys for first season and from then on Portsmouth and Berks & Hants, Winning Club Championships At Both.

In 1992 after leaving school Phil went on and worked in the family motorcycle business for over 20 years running the parts and clothing side. After a two year break from racing in the mid 90's Phil  started racing again in adult events where he made Expert status riding a CR250.

In November 2013 Phil had a life changing motocross accident with left him paralysed from waist down in a wheelchair, his whole life changed in more ways than one. After leaving the family business Phil wanted to stay involved in the sport that he loved, grown up in, and worked in for so long, so in 2016 decided to open MXRaceTime.
